Now moved over to the "E-body" platform, the Barracuda came with more options and body styles and competed as a real performance car. |
1970 Plymouth Barracuda
In 1970 the Barracuda became real "performance" as it was moved over to the E-body platform, which it would share with the new Dodge Challenger, although the Barracuda rode on a two-inch shorter wheelbase than Challenger. The performance models were called 'Cudas and featured five different V8s, including the 340, 383, 440, 440+6, and the famous 426 Hemi. The 440s and the Hemi cars rode stock with a special high performance suspension. Standard Barracudas came with a flat hood, while 'Cudas came with standard dual hood scoops. With a cost of $871.00, its no wonder there was only 666 cars with the Hemi option.1970 Plymouth Barracuda Production
