Chrysler 300 |
The Chrysler 300 was first offered in 1955 as a high-performance luxury car. The Chrysler 300's of 1955-1965 are also known as the 300 "letter series" as each year's model used a new letter of the alphabet as a suffix (skipping I), reaching 300L by 1965 after which the "letter series" was dropped. The "letter series" years were built in very limited production numbers by the Chrysler Corporation and for the 11 year period included only 14,268 hardtops and
2,588 convertibles. In 1966 the "letter series" was dropped and the line became the 300. Soon consumers became more interested in cheaper, smaller and quicker muscle cars and the 300 would be gone in 1971 and not return again until 1999.
