DESCRIPTION

General Motors began building pickup trucks like this stylish 1949 Chevrolet 3100 at the start of WWI and in the first year of production about 900 trucks rolled off the line. By 1942 when civilian production stopped, Chevrolet had produced two million trucks. Clearly, they were doing something right. Following WWII the Bowtie brand sought to maintain its dominance and in 1947 it debuted its \'Advance Design\' series of pickups. Ranging from the -ton 3100 to the 1-ton 3800 and initially powered by reliable straight six of 216.5ci - later growing to 235ci and then 261ci - the full-bodied and modern looking line-up quickly became the best-selling truck in America, a title it held for the duration of its eight-year production life.

This handsome Chevrolet 3100 is in excellent condition wearing a deep Forester Green paint finish with black painted running boards with a correctly painted stripe runnig around the cab\'s beltline The deluxe trim on this classic Chevy includes a bright, attention-grabbing chrome grill, chrome front and optional rear bumpers. The bed floor has wood planks with correctly painted metal bed strips.

Green-painted 16-inch steel wheels wear chrome hubcaps and trim rings fitted with Coker Classic wide-whitewall tires that enhance the character and style of this classic truck. A spare fitted with a BF Goodrich tire is mounted to the underside of the bed, and jacking equipment is retained in the bench seat storage compartment.

Power is supplied by a smooth-running 216 cubic-inch \"Blue Flame\" straight-six featuring a single downdraft carburetor topped by an oil-bath air cleaner. The electrical system has been converted to 12 volts, and the truck is equipped with an upgraded aluminum radiator and replacement water pump.
