DESCRIPTION

1937 Ford 85 Deluxe Club Coupe

For consignment, a 1937 Ford 85 Deluxe Club coupe, showing 9,710 unverifiable miles due to the title showing Mileage Exempt and sporting a blown 350ci engine from renowned builder Big Al\'s Toybox. If you\'re looking for a clean and potent street rod with an air conditioned interior read on. If you\'re not in the market for one, read on, maybe this will change your mind!

Exterior
It\'s like someone dipped this Club coupe in a vat of Midnight Sapphire Purple Metallic ink and it\'s still dripping wet. It coats every inch of the body, all steel with the exception of the hood and rear fenders, from the finely striated grille to the engine vents, headlight rings, and taillight housing. While we\'re in the back, check out the Ford V8 logo trunk handle. Cool! Wide hips flanking the rounded body mantle ginormous back tires on a narrowed axle and each tire is mounted on 15-inch Weld Rodlite wheels with of course, greatly varying widths. A gasser style air intake rises above the hood and captures air split by an ornament that is slightly reminiscent of the villain monster from Alien. Outside of the scoop and wheels, only the rounded, smooth bumpers provide a diversion from the purple paint and serve as perfect accents. Imperfections include just a few areas of wavy bubbling under the paint and a few small chips.

Interior
Purple can be paired with several colors successfully, and gray is a top choice and makes up the interior palette. A velour like cloth frames a stitched insert on the door panels which retain 30\'s style slim hardware and both doors look clean. The foam filled seats are tall backed buckets in the front and a late model combination of sporty shaped luxury thrones in gray cloth showing a touch of patina but fully intact. The rear 2+2 seats look inviting and comfortable, surrounded by a cocoon of soft, padded cloth walls and armrests. Up front, we\'re looking at a Grant banjo style steering wheel with gold trim which matches the gold rimmed gauges on the purple painted dash, a fantastic combination that allows the Ford retro gauges to really pop. A Vintage Air controller is in the center so your passenger can adjust as needed and an AM/FM/Cassette player is found on a smooth panel that waterfalls onto the center console where a Lokar shifter emerges from a boxed housing. Low pile gray carpet covers the floor, a fine headliner is stitched above, and the trunk is cleanly and completely finished with gray carpet.

Drivetrain
The show worthy engine is dominated by a polished blower on top of a 350ci engine, all built by Big Al\'s, and topped with a pair of Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetors. It\'s backed by a TH400 3-speed automatic transmission which sends power to the narrowed Ford 9\" rear axle with 4.11 gears. Naturally, headers are onboard to exhaust the mass quantities of spent gas. Brake configuration is disc front, drum rear.

Undercarriage
Generally clean and driver quality underneath with just a spattering of surface rust, some oil present on the pan, flywheel cover, and rear differential. The dual exhaust wears a pair of Turbo Mufflers just before turning outward to dump before the rear wheels. The car has a Mustang II front end for suspension and ladder bars with coilovers are in the back.

Drive-Ability
The unchopped windowsallow for some nice visibility and the perch provided is as comfortable as many modern cars. The 350 starts up with audible authority and we roll this purple beast onto the tarmac for about mile or so, but not that kind of mile! We\'re not about to do a wheelie with this thing, but something tells us it might be capable. Plenty of power, typical staggered tire handling, and the sweet, sweet wine...er, whine, of the blower. Our functionality test comes back clean as everything that\'s supposed to work in this rod actually do! While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

This is a monster purple people pleaser with a clean interior, muscular stance, and get out of my way over the hood features. A turnkey show car that needs nothing but your occupancy. As Prince sang, \"I only wanted to see you laughing in the Purple Rain!\" We\'ve got the key, all you need to do is turn it!
