DESCRIPTION

1967 Ford Mustang Hardtop

For consignment, a 1967 Mustang Sport Sprint in hardtop form which was basically an entry level sport options package which included hood vents, recessed turn signals, white wall tires, full wheel covers, bright metal rocker panel moldings, chrome air cleaner, and vinyl covered shift handle if an automatic transmission was ordered. Early in 1967 the Sport Sprint package was only offered on the hardtop body style, but by June 1967 the convertible was included. This particular car is a 3-owner example and retains its original window sticker, and has been garage kept during the 30 year tenure by our consignor. Wearing about 90% of its original paint and showing a title verified 121,462 miles this car is showing in very good condition and is ready for the next owner to continue the careful care it has been shown or take it to the next level and make this pony a concours show winner...the choice is yours!

Exterior
Bathed in a very nicely applied Lime Gold, straight steel abounds. Gaps are consistent and straight. The iconic hockey stick cove is present in the rear quarters, and it flows into the doors, with all being highlighted by a black C-stripe decal. From the front bumper, grille galloping horse, window and roof trimmings, and rocker trim all chrome is very nice with no dimpling or dulling. For 1967 the styling becomes slightly more aggressive on a simpler grille and deeper headlights, and on the back the former outward V shaped sergeant stripe tail lights have now been inverted to inward, but still using 6 individual lights. Original wheels are clad in the correct factory wheel covers and are wrapped in like new 215/70R14 white stripe rubber. Our consignor states that the only pain that is not original to the car is on the driver\'s side fender, which shows as slightly duller than the rest of the car. Overall, the paint remains very nice, with only a few minor inclusions, stone chips, and dings.

Interior
Two-tone Ivy Gold vinyl bounces all around this interior. The textured steel door panels are painted light Ivy Green for the uppers and lowers, and vinyl covered Dark Ivy Green panels are in the middle with just a touch of chrome trim surround. Front buckets continue with Dark Ivy Gold horizontal stitched inner panels, and smooth Light Ivy Gold bolsters. We note seamseparation in the driver\'s lower cushion, along with a tear in the driver\'s side upper bolster. The rear bench mimics the front buckets in design, and accommodates three passengers. The buckets flank the center hump with a chrome arm, black ball shifter. A dual squared off eyebrow design is reserved for the dash top and this plays in black and is above more Ivy Gold metal on the bottom of the dash. The chrome heater slides are to the driver\'s left and we can note the original instrument cluster, and steering wheel dead center. Front and center in the dash is the original AM radio. Black carpeting in lightly faded condition floods all the floors and is protected by black rubber mats with the iconic horse logo. The headliner is nice and tight Ivy Gold vinyl.Looking way back into the trunk we see very good condition square plaid vinyl lining throughout looking like new, along with a full size spare and tire changing tools.

Drivetrain
Under the hood, in the clean and tidy engine bay, is a 289ci V8. Bathed in its Ford blue glory, this mill is topped with a 2-barrel carburetor lurking under the chrome lid of the blue air cleaner assembly. A 3-speed manual transmission is in back with a Ford 8-inch 2.79 rear axle turning the tires. Things are looking good in this unrestored, lightly patinaed environment.

Undercarriage
A slight coating of surface rust is seen on some usual suspects, but structurally rust free for the unibody, floor pans and rockers. Patina is on the black painted surfaces, and all is looking good. Drum brakes are seen on all 4 corners and a stock style dual exhaust system handles the exhale of spent fossils. Providing the Mustang signature ride is an independent coil sprung front suspension that works along with a leaf spring arrangement in the rear.

Drive-Ability
This car fired right up, and after a bit of a warm up period, ran very smoothly, drove beautifully, and had good acceleration and handling. It is a good highway cruiser as well. It is also noted it has a nice engine sound emanating from the exhaust, however we did note that the transmission has noticeable noise throughout all three gears, especially while under load.

An older survivor example still maintaining its luster, sporty interior, and smooth running power plant. Very nice paint, the rarely seen Sport Sprint package, sporty wheel covers with white stripe tires, and shiny chrome and trim. I feel we will be together at least until death do us part.
