DESCRIPTION

1985 Ford Cobra

For consignment, a 1985 Ford Cobra with a title verified 4,799 actual miles with a 429 under the hood and wearing stunning red and gray livery.

Note: The clean and clear Ohio title for this car does not have a listing for vehicle \"Make\", but does have a vehicle \"Make Description\" listed as ASFE. Please check your local, state, and federal laws for proper titlingand registration procedures for this vehicle.

Exterior
A double ribbon of titanium stripes ride over the horizontal surfaces like a present under the Christmas tree and red coats the panels like Santa\'s sleigh. The oval chrome bumper surrounds an egg crate grille from which the black trimmed stripe begins and intersects a small hood scoop looming over the gently ascending hood line. A pair of hood pins are at the top in front of the raked windshield with wind guards and all glass is slightly tinted. Chrome elements include the beefy sidepipes and a straight roll bar that spans the cabin to cover both the driver and passenger. The curvaceous rear with its wide hips also features a chrome bumper that is more of a design element than actual protection but looks great by any measure and it is flanked by quad rounded tail lights. 15-inch wire wheels with faux knockoffs add some visual interest, as if the car needed anymore! The only imperfection on the exterior is a spot of discoloration in the paint.

Interior
Black vinyl door cards feature the Cobra badge and a pleated map pocket and padded lower border, keeping things minimalist and light. The seats step things up a notch with well padded bucket seats in tuck and roll patterned black vinyl in good condition. The wall in back between the seats has black and gray patterned vinyl with a Cobra snake affixed to the middle and this material covers the center hump from which the wood handled T-shifter rises, in this case, an automatic. An AC branded wood steering wheel fronts the black padded dash and the center panel where all Stewart Warner gauges, AM/FM/Cassette radio, climate controls, and indicator lights reside. The narrow footwells are covered in low pile back carpet.

Drivetrain
Polished aluminum panels line the engine bay but our eyes are drawn to the big, finned Cobra valve covers on the 429ci V8 wearing an Edelbrock intake and a Holley 4-barrel carburetor. Rowing it into motion is a C6 3-speed automatic transmission sending power to a Ford 9\" rear axle. Disc brakes are up front and drums in the rear, while headers are mated to the exhaust ports. The bay is clean and includes braided hoses and polished parts for this show worthy powerplant.

Undercarriage
Plenty of polished parts underneath including the oil and transmission pans, side panels, and a panel under the gas tank. The black frame, knuckles and wheel components are all clean with no surface rust nor grime build up. The exhaust, of course, goes from the headers and directly sideways to the side pipe and suspension consists of a Mustang II front and a 4 link with coil springs in back.

Drive-Ability
A prime of the Holley and the 429 roars to life and we slip the T-handle to Drive and this red rocking roadster hits the test loop with obvious power underfoot, great tracking and handling and braking on demand. We note the heater blower is not operating, there are audible exhaust leaks, and a vacuum leak under the dash. All other functions operate as intended. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
