DESCRIPTION

1996 Nissan 300ZX Coupe

For consignment, a 1996 Nissan 300ZX coupe with a title verified 132,983 actual miles, a V6 with manual transmission, regularly serviced and per our consignor, and mechanically sound.

Exterior
The Ultra Red paint belies the mileage on this car and the monochromatic coverage creates clean lines on what can be described as a rounded wedge design. A body that will likely still look modern and fresh 20 years from now. Integrated fog lights and side markers flow seamlessly on the front bumper over a slotted front spoiler and intake that\'s aggressive without being over the top. Covered headlights mimic the rake of the windshield, which is sharp, wide, and dramatic. The standard T-tops break up the red for a moment, then the hatch picks it up with wide, hinged C-pillars and wingless decklid. Looking at the smooth plexi-encased tail lights, it\'s evident that the newest Z-car gained inspiration from this model, because the design is that good. A smooth red rear bumper cover flows like water, ending to reveal dual exhaust with twin tips on each side. The wheels, ever so slight in their angled design, are in beautiful condition. Overall, the exterior is simple with no wasted material, extra vents, or outlandish wings. Clean Japanese design. The only imperfections are some deep scuffs under the chin.

Interior
More simplicity and freshness here with shades of black and gray dominating. The original seats were replaced with racy Recaros that provide plenty of side support. The lower half of the dash, side of center console, armrest, and door cards are lined with a gray velour-like material, something not seen in many cars. The side pods flanking the steering wheel control things like cruise control, lights, A/C, and wipers and all within a finger\'s length away. That leaves the center of the dash free of busy buttons and it holds only an AM/FM radio, CD player and changer, digital clock, and vents in a smooth straight tower. The short shifter, showing some wear, accompanies some switches in the center console including a suspension toggle for sport and touring, the side mirror controls, and a defog switch. The rear storage combines carpet and velour and is flanked by the rear speakers. The driver\'s door header shows a blemish but both doors are otherwise in good condition.

Drivetrain
Under the hood, a clean 3.0 liter VG30DE V6 with wonderful visual appeal and a horsepower rating of 222. It\'s fuel injected and tied to a 5-speed manual transmission that sends power to the rear wheels with 4.08 gears. Power disc brakes are found on all four corners.

Undercarriage
Clean driver quality conditions prevail underneath with some typical surface rust and only residual oil. The plastic splash guard up front is cracked and missing pieces, but everything else seems to be in order and stock configuration. The dual exhaust runs down the middle of the underside and wears original mufflers before exiting via twin tips on both sides. Macpherson strut suspension is utilized front and rear.

Drive-Ability
After driving a myriad of muscle cars, the cockpit of this car offers a relatively quiet respite but still provides an exciting experience. In true sports car fashion, the ride is more horizontal and the ergonomics are just right. Gauges are right there for the reading and controls are contained within the width of the driver\'s shoulders. Handling is just excellent; the size and weight of the car keep it tossable but also planted. We note the A/C is not working and the headlight indicator and brake light on the dash stays lit. Beyond that, all other functions work on this well loved and well maintained Z. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

In recent years, Z cars have come into their own in terms of appeal and desirability. What we have here is a fine example with recent maintenance that provides a turnkey experience for the next lucky owner. This is one you can enjoy every day or leave it in the garage to save for weekend jaunts. You can catch some Z\'s while thinking about this one overnight, or pick up the phone today and express your interest.
