DESCRIPTION

1968 Volkswagen Beetle

For consignment a well worked over 1968 VW Beetle. Sporting a dual port 1600cc engine, Autostick shift which has also been updated, some new interior items and a two-tone exterior of robin egg blue and cream. Nearly like a new 1968 car with only 58,513 title verified actual miles. I\'m feelin\' the love.

Exterior
This cool little beetle has decently minded gaps, with new weatherstripping, and rust-free panels. Light blue bathes the body and roof, and some overspray can be seen, as well as a little bit of previous sanding swirls in the body repairs. A small area of discoloration is also noted. Rounded fenders are now in cream, with the front fenders having LED headlights with chromed visors looking a lot like eyelashes for cars. The lenses for the turn signals and taillights have been smoked and appear darker, which goes with the black rubber piping seen throughout between the seams of the fenders and bodywork. All chrome trimmings are very nice and badging is all correct designating the automatic stick shift. Blackwall tires have shiny dog dish style wheel coverings and this adds to the black trim mystique.

Interior
In keeping with the black accenting theme, the door panels are like new and have a billet drilled window crank, some embossing in the vinyl, a black armrest, and a storage pouch in the corner. Eye catching burl wood is now installed in the dash front, and a snazzy burl and cream leather covered steering wheel is fronting the dazzling dash. A single round gauge cluster is in the very center of the steering wheel, and a BEETLE badge now screams at you in lieu of a radio. More burl for the glove box door and original seating in black textured vinyl for the front buckets and back bench. A pill revolver complete with bullets is the shift lever topper, which protrudes straight upward out of the hump which is covered with nice black carpeting protected by red floor mats. Above is a white headliner which shows some sagging and wrinkles as well as a tear on the drivers side.

Drivetrain
A top end rebuild the results thereof can be seen with a flip of the rear lid. A 1600cc engine is now dual port with new valves, valve guides and a rebuilt 1-barrel carb. The auto stick shift transmission now has new contact point for the shifter, and a new clutch and diaphragm, and a rebuilt like new torque converter. The underside view shows nicely with no leaky bottom end and some red painted accenting. looking very spiffy in this engine bay.

Undercarriage
Rust free, drip free panels and structural steel throughout. Rockers are solid, and the entire underside of the car is covered in ground effects style panels. Independent front, and double jointed rear suspension is on and looking good, and new brakes, lines and master cylinder work drum braking on all 4 corners.

Drive-Ability
A quick starter, and a low tweet from the rebuilt engine. This car has wonderful acceleration, great handling and a smooth ride with bias free panic stopping. All functions were working just swimmingly, just like the ads where they dipped a car in a lake! While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

All buttoned up and spiffed up mechanically, nice exterior with some overspray and two tone light blue and cream, and a nice interior with the burl accenting and cool steering wheel, and this bug is ready to crawl right into your garage.
