DESCRIPTION

1982 Chevrolet El Camino SS

For consignment, a 1982 Chevrolet El Camino SS, showing a non actual 4,550 miles on the odometer, a true Z15 SS that\'s been mechanically and cosmetically modified to present as a unique street machine with 500 horsepower. The car will come with the build receipts and the original factory build sheet.

Note: Due to modifications of the emissions control devices installed by the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and federal laws to determine if this vehicle is applicable for use on public highways in your area

Exterior
The first thing that hits you, especially if you\'re standing in the middle of the road, is that massive cowl hood that resembles a big red rhinoceros coming at you. And by red, we\'re talking Dark Red Metallic that covers the car in two stage goodness with accompanying pinstripe flames from the fender vents and tri colored retro SS graphics on the door. To smooth the rushing air flow, a color keyed fiberglass bed topper is secured along with a rear wing over the tailgate adorned with pinstriping and an SS decal. The rear chrome bumper has been replaced with an integrated and painted roll pan that absorbs the taillights in flush alignment. The original crosshatch grille has been replaced with a more streamlined version and along with the halo headlights, LED auxiliary lights, and smooth, body colored bumper, presents a futuristic face without losing its early 80\'s disposition. 15-inch Hurricane wheels with staggered size tires create a bit of a rake to the profile and this nose down tail up racer leans forward with anticipation. We could not find any glaring exterior flaws on the SS.

Interior
Standard GM door panels here with contrasting foam armrests and familiar molded plastics and vinyl. The newer TMI Sport-R bucket seats are better than anything from the factory in \'82. Black vinyl and suede with robust bolstering and support, red stitching, and tuck and roll inserts and they\'re in great shape, flanking a matching center console with storage and cup holders. Up front, a billet style steering wheel fronts a Dakota digital dash with blue read outs in a cluster that fits the space cleanly. In the center stack is an AM/FM/CD player with screen and back up camera over the A/C control panel fitted in the center just before the B&M shifter, all over low pile black carpet in good condition. A black headliner looms overhead and is in fine shape as well.

Drivetrain
Get your sunglasses on for this show. A polished and chromed 383ci stroker awaits viewers under the hood with braided lines, polished brackets, and clean Sanderson headers. Even the Edelbrock intake is polished as are the twin 4-barrel carburetors perched on top. The engine has AFR 165 heads and is rated at 500 consignor stated horsepower. Monster Transmissions built the 700R4 4-speed automatic and included a torque converter lock out. Power is sent to the Ford 9\" axle with 3.70 gears and Positraction. A four core Champion radiator and fans cools the engine and power disc brakes on all four corners slow its momentum.

Undercarriage
Fantastically clean underneath that starts with a new 21 gallon gas tank and includes adjustable coil overs all around with accompanying a 4 link in back. The dual exhaust have cut outs, and the long route encounters a pair of stainless steel mufflers before exiting in front of the rear wheels. There are no catalytic converters. There\'s no dirt, grease, or oil underneath and the knuckles and wheel components are spotless.

Drive-Ability
We crank the stroker up and even through the long exhaust, it lets out an intimidating roar. Wake up, Morgantown, the rhino is about to head outside. Clearly, there\'s impressive power underfoot and with seats this comfortable and supportive, we don\'t want the test to end. In the meantime, the Elky tracks, handles, and stops very well. The rear quarter windows and narrow C-pillars create great visibility and the cowl takes a few minutes to get used to. We note the A/C not working and the tachometer is reading incorrectly, but all other functions operate as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

This is a big, bad El Camino SS and as an added bonus, it\'s immaculate! It has a high stance and a streamlined body and is unlike any El Camino we\'ve had the honor of representing here at the mall. The rip roaring 383 is not just a beast, it\'s a beauty too. If this is your jam, and you know it is, be sure to put your hat in the ring by calling our friendly Car Specialists today, or stop by the mall right off the illustrious Pennsylvania turnpike.
