2019 Ford Mustang GT California Special Convertible
For consignment a 2019 Ford Mustang GT California Special convertible with a title verified 5,842 actual miles in desirable Kona Blue. Yes, many of these special editions are treated as such and used for special occasions and car shows exclusively, keeping their mileage very low.
Exterior
Kona Blue is a beautiful shade of dark blue that almost has black undertones and appears differently depending on the light. A unique blacked out grille adorns the CS and is topped with a vented hood, but it\'s the side profile that defines the special as 19-inch wheels specific to the GT/CS shoe the car and a stripe that starts on the front quarter panel and fades its way across the door are found only on this edition and the black stripe presents subtly on the dark blue paint. Quarter scoops also differentiate this car from your average GT and add a level of aggression born from the original California Special. Around back, deeply smoked tail lights complete a black band across the rear where the scripted California Special callout is located, in red letters. Dual twin exhaust tips fit into a rear diffuser that also houses the reverse light and low profile wing rises above it all. The black canvas top has a glass rear window with defrost and it all is in excellent condition. And so is the paint to the point we could not find any glaring imperfections. It\'s like a new car.
Interior
Other than the red stitched leather insert, the door panels are standard GT, molded plastic and with integrated hardware and trimmed with a metallic hand pull. Our front bucket seats, heated and cooled, are ebony leather with cloth inserts, a sort of soft microfiber that grips in corners, and the seats are adorned with red stitching and the pattern and materials are mirrored on the good sized tall 2+2 seating in back. Red stitching also makes its way to the dash and center console where leather padding runs with it in a well coordinated design cue that also is found on the shift boot. The steering wheel has more buttons than my grandmother\'s sewing kit and the electronic gauge display lights up with more colors than her fruitcake. A center screen boldly presides over intergrade buttons and toggles for A/C and the incredible Bang and Olufsen Play audio system which is customized to the car\'s interior environment and includes Sync, Bluetooth, 12 speaker premium sound, FordPass connect 4G WiFi capable, XM capable, navigation, and of course, AM/FM/CD for you old schoolers. The stout shifter is waiting in the center console and black carpet is covered with red trimmed California Special mats. The interior is in immaculate condition with no noted imperfections.
Drivetrain
The GT\'s 5.0 liter Coyote V8 is under the vented hood looking factory fresh and sporting a CS branded strut tower stabilizer bar. The engine is rated at 435 horsepower and is tied to a Getrag MT82 6-speed manual transmission sending power to 3.55 gears in back with limited slip. Nothing less than power disc brakes would do on this car and that\'s what we have at each corner.
Undercarriage
Spotless underneath and the big dual exhaust take center stage through the tunnel, into original equipment mufflers, and out the back via four tips. The car is equipped with active exhaust wherein the level and tone can be changed based on throttle input and puts a butterfly valve at the end of the exhaust route. Suspension for this muscle car comes in the form of MacPherson struts up front and multi link out back and both end of the car are independent. No runs, no drips, no errors...the underside is basically factory fresh.
Drive-Ability
The operative word here is special because this is similar but different than your average 2019 GT and feels as much, both visually and seat of pants. It\'s obviously a great sounding car and acceleration is satisfying to say the least. Turn-in, tracking, and braking are all excellent, truly sports car level proficiency. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
Sure, you could have a Mustang GT and be entirely happy with your choice. But you could also have a GT with some very special additions that will stand out, if not at car shows and gatherings, then in your very own garage.
