The 1964 Buick Wildcat was sportier and plusher than ever before! |
1964 Buick Wildcat
Sales continued to increase as the 1964 Buick Wildcat became even sportier and plusher. Buick called the Wildcat, "the next best thing to owning a Riviera." The big news for the '64 Wildcat in addition to the 401 V8 was two optional engines, a 425 cid V8 rated at 340 hp and the bigger 425 cid V8 rated at 360 hp. The extra performance was needed as the Wildcat may have been sporty but wasn't light and weighed in at about 4,500 lbs. The suspension was further upgraded and included a link stabilizer bar and a semi-floating rear axle using a three-bar link with a track bar. A posi-track rear end was optional. Model production consisted of 20,144 4-Door Sedan's, 33,358 2-door hardtops, 22,893 sport coupes and 7,8?? Convertibles. The 4 door sedan started at about $ 3100.00, and the sport coupe was about $3250.00 and the convertible was about another $200.00.1964 Buick Wildcat Production Numbers
