Plymouth Barracuda |
The Plymouth Barracuda was first offered in 1964 and is considered by many the first pony car, as it debuted two weeks before the Ford Mustang. A direct spin-off from the Plymouth Valiant, the new Barracuda was based on the A body chassis. In 1970 Plymouth got serious about performance and the Barracuda was moved over to the E-body platform, which it shared with the Dodge Challenger, although the Barracuda rode on a two inch shorter wheelbase. With a new range of performance packed engine options that included the Hemi, the Barracuda ended up a highly collectible legend.
